South Australians will be celebrating our furry and feathered friends for the RSPCA’s national
fundraiser, Happy Tails Day.
RSPCA (SA) Media and Campaigns Manager Jennifer Salter said today’s event acknowledges the
positive differences animals make to our lives, while supporting the work of the RSPCA.
“Happy Tails Day is all about celebrating animals. We hope South Australians will show their love
for all creatures great and small by taking part in this important fundraiser,” she said.
“RSPCA staff and volunteers will hit the streets today, shaking donation tins for animals in need.
“You can find our collectors throughout the city and suburbs, including Norwood, Blackwood and
Victor Harbor.
“We will also have a stand in Rundle Mall under the Gawler Place canopy, until 5pm tonight,
where you can say hello and meet some animals from our Lonsdale shelter.
“This year Happy Tails Day falls during RSPCA Awareness Week, so we really hope that South
Australians will be inspired to give generously.
“Last year, Happy Tails Day raised more than $17,500 to help sick, injured and abandoned
animals in SA, and we’re hoping to build on that this year.
“You can show your support by purchasing Happy Tails Day merchandise, such as plush toys, caps
and pens, which are all available at our city stand, RSPCA headquarters, Lonsdale shelter and
online at http://www.rspca.org.au/
“You can also fundraise for the RSPCA by selling merchandise on our behalf in the workplace,
school or in the community.”
In 2011-12, the RSPCA responded to more than 4000 rescue and cruelty reports and managed
more than 9000 animals across its three SA shelters.
