6 ways to do something great or small on #DoSomething Day

The RSPCA is proud to support the first-ever Do Something Day on 19 July, and we are excited to help you find the perfect way to get behind the initiative and lend a hand.

If you love animals and want to help support the work of the RSPCA, Do Something Day is a great chance to … well ... do something!

Check out our 6 suggestions:

·Adopt don’t shop – Every year the RSPCA provides shelter to thousands of animals that are in need of a good home. All RSPCA animals have undergone health and behaviour assessments to make sure they are suitable for adoption as companion pets.

Dogs and cats are also desexed, microchipped and vaccinated to help give them the best possible fresh start. By choosing the adoption option, not only are you giving a new home to an animal in need, but your support will help the RSPCA care for many more animals.

You can see all the amazing animals currently waiting for their forever home now at Adoptapet .

·Make a humane choice at the supermarket and when eating out – You can ensure you’re choosing higher welfare products in the supermarket by looking for RSPCA Approved chicken, eggs, pork and turkey and by using the RSPCA’s Choose Wisely directory to find restaurants and cafes serving higher welfare meals too.

·Volunteer – Volunteering is a fantastic, hands-on way to help make a difference for animals. Have a chat with your local RSPCA today to find out how you can help.

·Fundraising while having fun - Every year, there are two fun-filled major fundraising events for the RSPCA: Million Paws Walk and RSPCA Cupcake Day. Whether you’re a baker, the outdoorsy type or simply love meeting new people and helping an important cause, both events are a great opportunity to get involved with the RSPCA.

·Use your voice to take action to end animal cruelty – The RSPCA is constantly working publically and behind the scenes to improve the welfare of animals in our country. Adding your voice and joining the RSPCA in our campaigning helps to find a way forward to better animal welfare. Subscribing to our e-news is a great place to start, to stay in touch and keep up with all the latest news. You can also keep an eye right here on our blog.

·Donate – All donations, no matter how small, help the RSPCA continue its vital work in the community. Whether it’s a one-off donation or becoming a regular giver, you know you’re helping care for all creatures great and small. Talk to your employer about setting up Workplace Giving to allow you to make regular pre-tax donations directly from your pay. Your workplace may even be interested in becoming a Corporate Supporter.
