If you’ve decided it’s time to welcome a new furry friend into your life, the best option might be adoption! Not only will you be giving one of the thousands of animals in RSPCA adoption centres a second chance, but you’ll have the chance to make a friend for life, supported by valuable advice from the RSPCA team. And you’ll be able to make a difference to the lives of many other animals, because every dollar of your adoption fee goes towards helping the RSPCA care for as many animals as possible.
You can give an animal a well-deserved second chance
Every year the RSPCA provides shelter to thousands of animals who come into our care through no fault of their own. They come through our doors for a wide range of different reasons – some have been surrendered, some have not previously had a home and, sadly, some have suffered neglect or cruelty. But they all have one thing in common – they all need a home. Adopting your next best friend will truly allow you to give a second chance to someone who needs it – what could be better than that?
We can help find the right match for you
Our RSPCA staff really get to know the animals in our adoption centres. They know their background, their personality and their likes and dislikes. That means that we can really help you find the right addition to your household. Visiting an
RSPCA adoption centre or Petbarn store gives you the chance to meet a number of different animals and see who you have a connection with. The perfect pet for you might be one you hadn’t thought of at all! For example, if your household is a bit quieter and calmer, you might want to consider an
older pet. RSPCA staff also provide advice on good pet care and ownership, such as making sure your cat is safe and happy at home.
Pets are well looked after by the RSPCA
An adoption from the RSPCA comes with the benefit of expert, unbiased advice. All RSPCA animals undergo health and behaviour assessments to help us understand what sort of home they’re best suited to. Dogs and cats are also desexed, microchipped and vaccinated to help give them the best possible start. Animals in our adoption centres are fed
Hill’s Pet Nutrition food, so you know they’re getting a high quality, healthy and nutritious diet. Our team of vets, animal behaviourists and animal care attendants work hard not just to ensure animals are looked after while they’re in our care, but that they go to a home that’s right for them.
Your adoption fee helps support the RSPCA
By adopting your next best friend from the RSPCA, you’ll also be helping support us to continue the important work we do caring for animals. That includes not only helping other animals find homes, but also investigating and prosecuting cases of animal cruelty, as well as educating the community about responsible pet ownership. So, you’ll be helping not just the animal that you welcome into your home, but many other animals into the future.
