A German Shepherd cross, found abandoned on the side of a road in a bird cage on Friday, still
hasn’t been identified - as the hunt continues for the culprit.
RSPCA (SA) Chief Inspector Simon Richards said the dog had been examined briefly over the
weekend and did not have a microchip.
“We are still searching for the person who abandoned the dog at Blakeview in such appalling
circumstances,” he said.
“If anyone has any information about the dog or the galah cage in which he was found, we would
encourage them to call the RSPCA. All information will be treated confidentially.
“The dog is still very stressed, however he has calmed down enough to be hand fed.
“The RSPCA has received numerous phone calls and emails from people offering to give this dog
a home.
“We appreciate all the support, however the dog is still highly unpredictable and not suited to
being fostered or adopted for the time being.”
If caught and convicted, the person responsible faces a maximum two years behind bars or
$20,000 fine.
