RSPCA Australia Chair Gary Humphries has been recognised in this year’s Australia Day honours list.
Mr Humphries has been made an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO).
Mr Humphries is a long-time supporter of the RSPCA’s work throughout his distinguished career, and has served as chair of the national RSPCA Australia organisation since 2015.
Over that time he has been a public champion of the important campaigns run by the RSPCA: including the treatment of Australian cattle in Indonesian abattoirs, the appalling conditions facing sheep in live exports to the Middle East, legislation to outlaw the testing of cosmetics on animals, and the campaign to end battery cages in domestic egg production.
RSPCA Australia warmly congratulates Mr Humphries on this recognition, and trusts it will help advance public debate about these and other key issues in animal welfare in Australia.
