Australia’s Royal Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCAs) today express their sadness following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty was well known for her interest in animals, particularly companion animals, and was Patron of a number of animal charities, including the RSPCA in England and Wales.
The RSPCA was first established in Australia in 1871 (in Victoria) and received the royal warrant in 1923, then becoming known as the Royal Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Today we join the community, and our colleagues overseas, in sending our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and to the people of the United Kingdom.
