RSPCA’s popular Animal Welfare Seminar is being held online on 19 – 20 February 2025, with a focus on the animal ethics and personal or societal values that inform animal welfare outcomes.

The line up of speakers at the 2025 Animal Welfare Seminar are experts from a diverse range of academic backgrounds including animal welfare science, philosophy, law, social science and veterinary science.

International speakers from the UK, Denmark, Canada and the US will join Australian presenters in the online seminar, which runs over two afternoons.

“The Animal Welfare Seminar has been one of the most anticipated events on the animal welfare calendar for many years,” said RSPCA Australia CEO, Richard Mussell.

“The growing interest in contemporary evidence-based research on animal welfare issues has driven the popularity of this seminar among animal professionals and the community.

“This year, we’ll hear from experts exploring the links between ethics, animal welfare and animal welfare science.

“The seminar will dive into important topics such as the significance of animal sentience in law, and how we apply animal ethics and welfare aspects to areas like farming, breeding, wild animal management and racing animals.

“These topics give people the opportunity to pause and think about how personal and societal values underpin their own animal welfare ethics.”

The 2025 Animal Welfare Seminar is free and open to everyone to register.

A recording of the seminar will be available on the website after the event for anyone who is unable to attend at the time.

Note to editors: Some speakers are available for interview on request through the media team, by calling 0419 748 907, or emailing [email protected].
