The RSPCA and Petbarn have celebrated 10 years of working together — a partnership that has helped tens of thousands of animals find homes through Petbarn stores.

With the first RSPCA adoptions in Petbarn stores taking place in NSW in 2012, the partnership has grown to include 125 in-store Petbarn adoption centres across the country, which altogether have seen over 47,198 dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and rabbits rehomed over the past 10 years.

Petbarn also returns 100 per cent of adoption fees to the RSPCA — to date, $5 million in adoption fees nationally which has helped the RSPCA continue their vital, life-saving work.

“We are so proud to celebrate what our partnership has achieved with the RSPCA during this 10-year milestone, helping thousands of people and pets,” said Scott Charters, Chief Operating Officer of Petbarn and Chairperson of The Petbarn Foundation.

“We were inspired by the work of the RSPCA and wanted to actively help rehome surrendered pets which became the catalyst to the establishment of our own charity, The Petbarn Foundation, which in turn has grown to provide critical support to people and pets in need across Australia.

“We work daily with the RSPCA to support vital community initiatives, running those 125 pet adoption centres in our stores and we are committed to focusing our initiatives towards the areas in most need of support, such as domestic violence and supporting vulnerable pet owners.

“Our success together is a true testimony of the magic that happens when brands and charities have shared values and goals — on to the next decade!,” said Mr Charters.

“We remain incredibly proud to have Petbarn as our National Adoption Partner,” said RSPCA Australia CEO Richard Mussell.

“This year, the RSPCA and Petbarn celebrate ten years of working together to help ensure as many animals as possible are able to find a new home.

“We’re also so grateful for the ongoing support of The Petbarn Foundation — these generous donations help the RSPCA carry out crucial work, including some significant recent work focused on caring for senior animals.

“Surrendered senior animals often have greater vet care bills due to their advancing age and medical needs, and it can also be more difficult to find the right home for them. So Petbarn’s specific support in helping us rehabilitate and rehome older animals, by subsidising those costs and helping promote the benefits of adopting a senior pet, is a really good example of providing targeted support to address our most pressing needs.

“Every animal deserves a loving home. We say a big thank you to Petbarn for helping us make that happen for the past ten years. Here’s to the next ten years!,” said Mr Mussell.
