Could you be someone’s Guardian Angel this Christmas?

The holidays are one of the busiest times of year for the RSPCA’s animal care centres, with more than 17,000 animals without a family to call their own spending Christmas in our care.

With resources stretched more than ever, a little extra love and support can go a long way to seeing these animals through the festive season, and can make one of the most meaningful impacts at a time when these animals need it most.

So, if you’re looking for an easy way to help animals this Christmas, consider becoming a Guardian Angel.

What does becoming a Guardian Angel involve?

A Guardian Angel is a special someone – just like you! - who makes a donation to provide the nurturing care and shelter needed for the animals we expect to see through our RSPCA rescue centres this festive season.

All donations go directly to helping animals, including providing the vital care given at our shelters by our dedicated staff and volunteers, as well as helping our Inspectorate working in the community to protect animals from neglect and cruelty.

How does it work?

Making a positive difference to the lives of animals in need is as easy as heading to the Guardian Angel webpage and clicking “donate now”. You’ll then be prompted to choose the kind of animal you’d like to support from the animals in our care across the country. You may like to choose a dog, cat or select 'other' (and maybe get a bunny or a horse!)..

If you’re having trouble deciding between all creatures great and small you can select the ‘surprise me’ option and we can choose for you.

Once you’ve finalised your donation, you’ll be prompted to a page where we’ll introduce you to one of the many animals you are helping with your generosity this Christmas. You’ll also receive an email and be able to download aa special Christmas gift card with a photo and details of one of the animals you’re helping to care for. Their story will provide just a snapshot of the enormous impact you are making by becoming a Guardian Angel.

If you have a fellow animal enthusiast in your life, you can also opt to gift a donation in their name and send them a cute e-card online featuring the animal to who they’ve become a Guardian Angel. Just like making your own donation, you can choose the kind of animal your loved one would love most, as well as when and how you’d like the gift card sent. Now that’s a pawsome Christmas gift!

Why become a Guardian Angel?

The holidays are one of the busiest times of year for the RSPCA, caring for thousands of unwanted and neglected animals that find their way into our animal care centres. Over 17,000 animals turn to the RSPCA for help in the holiday season alone.

The RSPCA relies on community support, with only a very small portion of operating expenses coming from government. In short, the animals need a caring someone like you.

We cannot express our heartfelt gratitude enough to our guardian angels for helping to provide love, care and support to our animals when they need it most. Christmas can be a difficult time for shelter animals, so we say thank you to our Guardian Angels for making it brighter.

Protect animals like Poro

Poro the Samoyed came to the RSPCA with a variety of different health issues. This brave boy was in so much pain when he arrived, and it was up to the dedicated RSPCA team to ensure his survival. The urgency of the situation led to Poro undergoing immediate surgery, including the removal of his right eye. After his surgery, Poro found a place to rest and recovery with one of our amazing foster carers Stela. Over the course of several months, a deep bond formed, and Stela chose to make Poro a permanent part of her family by adopting him. We are so happy that Poro has found his new home and is as happy as ever.

Your generosity will help animals like Poro and other animals in our care recover and prepare for the next stages of their life. It will also allow the RSPCA to provide vet checks, microchipping, desexing, comfortable and clean bedding - everything an animal needs to recover and get ready for their new home.

So this Christmas, if you can, we hope you’ll consider joining us to help care for animals in need. And from all of us at the RSPCA, thank you for your support. We couldn’t be more grateful.
